this is a shot i almost didn't do anything with... i shot it about a year ago and wasn't crazy about the motion blur in his hair and the overall grain.
but i've been revisiting some of my older work and my thoughts on grain. the deftones pic i posted a while back was a good example of me letting go of my love of sharp, low noise, low blur performance images and "keepsin' it real" and using shots that i probably would have passed over a year ago.
sometimes shots that are technically imperfect (but have strong composition, storytelling, or mood) are stronger than shots executed with technical precision. having said that - there's a lot of bad blurry/grainy concert photography out there... anyone who has attempted to shoot live concerts without flash knows how challenging it can be. i guess the answer lies somewhere in the middle.
Awesome, I kind of hoped when i saw it that Trent had grown his hair back but alas - a year old. I think that the movement in the shot means it conveys a little more than a totally 'perfect' shot would have done.
some days ago i tried to shoot a concert without a flash. and my photo doesn't have a high iso so everything was blurry. a good camera can do a lot in this situation.
and i like this shot. the grain's good, i tell. nothing against it. good eye to capture the moment

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
